CoC Clan Wars Guide

Two clans of the same size face off: a day to prepare, a day to attack. The clan with more stars wins, and every attacker takes home bonus loot, more if their clan wins.

How a war runs

  1. 1

    Start a war search

A Leader or Co-leader picks the size and the members, usually from those who opted in. Matchmaking looks at the members' offense and defense strength and the clan's war record, not trophies, XP or clan level.

  2. 2

    Preparation day (23h)

Set up your war base and donate defensive Clan Castle troops to teammates' bases. Enemy war base layouts stay hidden until battle day; use the time to plan who hits which base.

  3. 3

    Battle day (24h)

Each participant attacks up to twice, but not the same base twice. Attacks don't touch your shield, trophies or loot.

  4. 4

    Results

Most stars wins; on equal stars, higher total destruction wins. Bonus loot lands in your Clan Castle treasury, Ore in the Blacksmith.

Only the best attack on a base counts

Stars and destruction for each enemy base come from your clan's single best attack on it, so spreading attacks well matters more than piling onto easy bases.

Enemy base #7, attacked twice
  • First attack★☆☆ 90%
  • Second attack★★☆ 60%

Stars come first: the 60% two-star counts, not the 90% one-star. Between equal stars, the higher destruction counts. The clan gets 2 stars and 60% from this base, not 3 stars.

Win, draw or loss

Equal stars and equal total destruction is a draw, which also happens when both clans get every star or nobody attacks.

Draw75%Win streak kept
Loss50%Win streak ends

Draws paid 57% before the February 2026 update. Clan XP earned during battle day is kept whatever the result.

War Win Bonus calculator

The bonus is 7 times the loot the base offers, plus the clan's war loot perk, then scaled by the result. An attack needs 1 star for the full amount; a 0-star attack earns its destruction percent of it.

Dark Elixir

Plus up to 1,110 Shiny, 39 Glowy and 6 Starry Ore with a Blacksmith (the clan perk doesn't raise Ore).

Per attack, against a full-strength base: weaker bases give less, and the game shows each base's bonus on the war map. A star still pays even if the base was already 3-starred.

Clan XP

The clan earns XP for the first successful attack on each enemy base, for reaching 40% and 60% of all stars, and 50 more for a win.

Friendly Wars

  • Challenge any clan that allows it. The challenger sets the size (2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 to 50v50), preparation and battle length (15 minutes to 1 day) and 1 or 2 attacks each.
  • Optional difficulty (Expert, Master, Legend or eSports) weakens attacking heroes and strengthens defenses.
  • Troops aren't used up, except Clan Castle troops. No loot or Clan XP; replays stay for 24 hours.

Other rules worth knowing

  • Leaving a clan mid-war locks you out of other clans' wars until that war ends; rejoining the same clan lets you keep playing.
  • You keep your War Win Bonus even if you leave before the war ends, as long as you attacked. Members who join mid-war can't spectate.
  • Claim targets and leave notes on enemy bases to coordinate; the enemy can't see them, and claims don't stop anyone else from attacking.
  • Temporary troops and spells can't be used in wars. Replays and war stats stay available for 5 days, and the war log keeps the last 50 wars.
